POLESTAR 2 REVIEW IN CANADA
Polestar, Volvo’s new electric car brand, recently announced the release of its first model, the Polestar 2, at an event in Shanghai and is now available in Canada for purchase. The new electric car looks sleek and well-designed, with Polestar promising that it will compete directly with Tesla’s Model 3 and Model S in terms of performance and range.
The Polestar 2 comes with a much lower price tag than either of these two models from Tesla, putting it in a league all its own when it comes to the cost of electric cars on the Canadian market today. With a starting price of CAN$ 54,000, Polestar costs CAN$ 70000 less than the Tesla Model 3, which starts at CAN$ 62,000.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
The Polestar 2 isn’t the first Tesla Model 3 competitor to come out of Sweden, but it may be the most impressive yet. With a range of 270 miles (434 km), this electric car can get you from Ottawa to Montreal and back again without running out of juice — it even has an integrated mobile app that lets you check your car’s range at any time and find charging stations nearby.
The Polestar 2 comes with a 78-kWh Li-ion battery pack that can deliver 400 horsepower and 487 lb-ft torque. The battery can be charged from 0-80% in 40 minutes using a fast-charger.
The single motor Polestar 2 has a range of 270 miles while the dual motor gives 260 miles. However, the real-world range is less than this and is around 200 miles with a single charge.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The Polestar 2 electric car has a sleek and modern exterior design that is sure to turn heads. The car is available in six different colors and features 19-inch alloy wheels. The overall look of the car is very stylish and sophisticated. Though it lacks some of the glitz and glamour that other more expensive cars have, it still looks sleek.
INTERIOR
The interior of the Polestar 2 is comfortable and spacious, with plenty of room for 5 passengers and cargo. The seats are supportive and there’s plenty of head- and legroom. The cabin is well-insulated from road and wind noise, making for a calm and relaxing ride. The infotainment system is easy to use and responsive, with clear graphics and intuitive controls.
