Lamborghini Aventador REVIEW IN CANADA
The Lamborghini Aventador was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show as the successor to the Lamborghini Murcielago. As with the rest of the models from Automobili Lamborghini, the name of the sports car is directly related to the world of bullfighting.
The ‘Aventador‘ was a prestigious fighting bull that participated in a bullfight at the Plaza de Toros de Zaragoza in 1993 and received an award in honor of its bravery.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 mounts a 6.5-liter V12 engine that generates a whopping 769 bhp at 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 531 lb-ft at 6750 rpm.
The traditional V12 engine used by the manufacturer has received a set-up to reduce its weight to 235 kilograms in 2022. The update also affects consumption , which is reduced by up to 8% compared to its predecessor, the Lamborghini Murcielago. A seven-speed robotic manual gearbox called ‘ISR‘ (Independent Shifting Rods) with paddles on the steering wheel transmits this power to all four wheels.
Lamborghini claims that the Aventador LP700-4 is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.
Its empty weight, thanks to the use of reinforced carbon fiber is set at 1,575 kilograms. This results in an excellent power-to-weight ratio of 2.25kg/hp. A factor to take into account but that surely does not worry the owners of the Aventador is the fuel consumption of 17.2 liters per hundred kilometers.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The exterior design of the Aventador LP700-4 has received influence from Lamborghini Reventon , an exclusive concept of the Italian firm presented in 2007, of which only 20 units were manufactured.
The supercar is 4.78 meters long, 1.14 meters high and a striking 2.26 meters wide, achieved thanks to a generous rear track width. On the rear stands an imposing diffuser and a striking hexagonal exhaust outlet. Lamborghini offers a palette of thirteen shades for the body of the Aventador LP700-4.
INTERIOR
The attention to detail and materials in every part of the interior are simply gorgeous. You really feel like you’re driving a stately car, not just a sports car. Every surface is covered in leather or rich wood trim and the instruments are backlit in orange for easier visibility. The seats are extremely comfortable and the suede inserts can be replaced with leather if desired.
