Bugatti Chiron REVIEW IN CANADA
Unveiled in 2016 as the successor to Bugatti’s legendary Veyron, Bugatti Chiron has become the ultimate hypercar both in terms of speed and performance and has the world record for fastest 0-400-0 kmph (0-249-0 mph) acceleration and braking. The Chiron super sport 300+ achieved a speed of 490.48 kmh (304.77 mph) in 2019 and undoubtably has become one of the fastest cars on the planet.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
Bugatti Chiron comes with a 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine with four turbochargers that can generate 1500 horsepower and 1180 pound-feet of torque. Chiron can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, and it’s super sport version gets there in 202 seconds. Coupled with 7 speed Dual-Clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, it can hit the 300 mph mark with ease but capped at 261 mph to comply with safety regulations.
The Chiron is designed as a race car with emphasis on performance at the expense of fuel economy and therefore can only manage 9 mpg in the city and 13 mpg on highway.
INTERIOR
The Chiron can accommodate only 2 people inside, the driver and one passenger and comes with a state-of art sound system with diamond membranes. The car has no screen for infotainment and does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Safety Features
Bugatti Chiron comes with standard safety features such as driver and passenger air bags, ABS, electronic stability control but no driver assistant features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist or blind spot monitoring. The Chiron comes with a superb braking system and can come to a halt in 306 ft while travelling at 100 mph.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
When Bugatti announced it would take the wraps off a special version of its 1,577-horsepower Chiron Super Sport hypercar, few were surprised. The exclusive brand had not disappointed over the last decade, and we were certain Bugatti would continue this tradition with a worthy follow-up to their impressive Veyron. And even though the new Chiron Super Sport 300+ managed to eclipse the 300-mph mark before it was even revealed in full, we must say it deserves accolades for topping off what was already one of the fastest cars ever made.
Under the hood you will find an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged engine that churns out 1,577 horsepower and can deliver the 0-60 mph sprint in just 2.2 seconds. This amazing speed is all thanks to advanced aerodynamics designed by engineers to reduce drag by up to 100 kilograms compared to other high-speed supercars.
