Aston Martin DBX REVIEW IN CANADA
The Aston Martin DBX is the company’s first ever sport utility vehicle. A five-door crossover, it incorporates elements of sports cars while still being fully capable of accommodating up to five passengers. In essence, this makes it the most versatile car offered by one of the world’s leading automakers; one which will undoubtedly deliver unparalleled standards when it comes to seating arrangements and cargo space.
With the emergence of SUV designs dominating the market, the Aston Martin DBX will face many competitors. The Lamborghini Urus is one of these competitors because it takes a very similar approach to designing an extremely high performance crossover; as well as the Ferrari Purosangue.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
The Aston Martin DBX is powered by a 4.0 V8 twin-turbo engine from Mercedes-AMG, delivering 697 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque throughout the RPM range – from 2,600 to 6,000 rpm. The engine feeds power through a 9-speed transmission to each wheel in this car’s four wheel drive system which features an active center differential and electronically controlled rear anti-lock braking system; accelerating 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and topping out at a maximum speed of 310 km/h (193 mph).
EXTERIOR DESIGN
This first SUV from them has been heavily influenced by two of their successful sports cars, the Aston Martin Vantage and Aston Martin DB11. You can see hints of these two models in the sides, front and back end of this vehicle – most notably in its elongated hood which mimics both these cars.
INTERIOR
It also shares similarities with other vehicles in its line thanks to its all-leather trimmed cockpit that allows for comfortable motoring; an instrument cluster taken straight out of their flagship sedan; an infotainment system boasting a 10.3 central display mirroring what they offer on the latest model; ample passenger space inside and behind, equivalent to many luxury SUVs’ offerings; and generous storage capacity at over 632 litres.
